Live meetings Fridays, 6-7:30pm EST
Week of February 4 – March 11
The best PI series have one thing in common, whether they're episodic or evolving - compelling, unforgettable protagonists dropped in a vibrant, alluring setting. From Scudder's blood-stained New York to Marlowe's haunting Los Angeles, the private eye has always intrigued readers. But what goes into creating such a character - one that can carry more than one book? Geared toward the author with some writing experience, this online class will go into the creation of an engaging character and also spend time on their supporting cast - including where they do business. This is a workshop for the student looking to focus their energies on crafting a modern PI novel, starting with the protagonist and moving toward their first adventure. Have an idea for a lead but not sure it fits? This is where you can refine your character, their friends and where they hang their hat.
Please note: This class meets virtually. Students will receive a link to register for the WetInk platform before the class begins and are expected to log in weekly during the live meetings to participate in a chat.
