The Young Adult Fiction reading group will look at contemporary YA titles across genres, from literary fiction to romance to fantasy. Through reading several award-winning recent young adult titles we'll look at the elements that unite all young adult literature, from an exploration of identity to a conclusion that's infused with a sense of hope, and discuss trends in YA today. We'll also discuss the increase in diverse voices in young adult literature and the movement that's pushing that necessary diversification forward.
Reading list: The Strange and Beautiful Sorrows of Ava Lavender By Leslye Walton; Grasshopper Jungle By Andrew Smith; Everything, Everything By Nicole Yoon; We Were Liars By E. Lockhart; Eleanor & Park By Rainbow Rowell
